Back In Black Books Ltd was formed at the beginning of 2014 by Julian J Rowley MAAT CIPFA Dip. (Director).

The company is a modern and fresh alternative to the standard accountancy practice, supporting your business in both the traditional approach and through online Cloud accounting.

The 24 hour, on-call flexible service is perfectly suited to the small business, including:

Work Background

I joined Macclesfield Borough Council in 1990 as a Finance Trainee, grasping the opportunity to undertake financial training while also getting paid in the role.

Having obtained Membership status with the Association of Accounting Technicians, I then went on to study further with CIPFA, ultimately gaining the position of Accountant with Cheshire East Council.

The varied role involved meeting the challenges of a constantly changing service delivery model, budget pressures and efficiency measures, while retaining exceedingly high standards of financial support to front-line services.

Having spent 23 years in the public sector gaining invaluable financial skills and experience, I called time on this chapter of my career in order to pursue a long-standing ambition of running my own accountancy practice with a modern and customer-focused approach, differentiating it from the traditional accounting practice.

Personal Background

I live in Macclesfield with my wife Heather, who jointly owns the company with me, and our two young sons, Ethan and Jake.

As well as Finance, I have worked as an On-Call firefighter with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service since 2006 so I certainly can’t complain about lack of variety during my working day – I could be creating complex spreadsheets or performing intricate tax calculations when the call comes and I have to dash out to drive the fire engine to a traffic accident or house fire.

It was these two very different occupations which combined to “light the fuse” that led to my breaking away from local government and fulfilling my ambition to establish an accountancy practice which would be flexible enough to accommodate both pursuits, allowing me to serve and support local businesses and the community.

About Melissa

Melissa March has joined Back in Black as an Executive Assistant after a career in business management. Her industry experience includes business development, accounts management and marketing. After educating herself in Commerce, she owned her own company for many years and worked in business development. She lived and worked in Canada throughout her life but moved to her family’s native UK in July 2014. In addition to her role with Back in Black Books Ltd, she manages a personal assistant business in Macclesfield.
